What does the RO membrane do?

• It retains 99.9% of bacteria.
• It retains 99.9% of viruses.
• It reduces heavy metals and dissolved salts — what gives water a salty taste and leaves limescale.

This is the only component in the filter able to deal with the salinity and hardness of the water; the other cartridges only handle taste, odour and impurities.

When should it be changed?

Every 12 to 18 months depending on the water quality in your city: the more salts there are, the shorter its life. The practical sign: a drop in the amount of purified water or the salty taste coming back.
